He aspired to be an actor because of his love for theater. He was one of the founding members of the Gekidan Geikyo and was also active as an affiliated actor.
His voice type was baritone. He had a habit of carrying loose change in his pocket, which often caused noise during dubbing sessions. For this reason, he was nicknamed "Noise no Miya." He was renowned for his portrayal of elderly voices, and his representative work was the role of "Master Roshi" in "Dragon Ball," which he played from the start of the anime until his passing.
