Summary
During the war, he was a young soldier aspiring to become a pilot. After the end of World War II, he graduated from Aoyama Gakuin University and worked for a securities company. However, unable to give up on his dream of becoming an actor, he left the company and transitioned into acting.
His voice type was low baritone. Due to his heavy and imposing voice, he often played the role of enemy generals in anime. In contrast to the roles he played, he was a gentle father at home. He frequently provided voices for villains in tokusatsu (special effects) series.
He was a veteran actor active since the 1960s and a prominent figure in the Japanese voice acting industry, particularly during the early days of dubbing.
Notable roles include Ittetsu Hoshii in Star of the Giants and Heiji Zenigata in Lupin the Third.

In his later years, he spent his time resting at a hospital in Itabashi-ku, Tokyo. On January 17, 2014, at 11:40 a.m., he passed away from bladder cancer.
