Summary

Graduated from Tokyo Bunka Gakuen. After affiliating with the Fuji Theater Company, Tokyo Art Theatre, and M-Three Production, joined 81 Produce. His real name is Maeda Masaharu.

After graduating from junior high school, he moved from Kumamoto to Tokyo for a group employment opportunity, starting work at the Hitachi Yokohama Factory. His job involved the final inspection of televisions. He began his voice acting career in 1976 with "Dokaben", gradually building his career as a voice actor. In the "Fist of the North Star", which started in 1984, he primarily appeared as a villain, but later also took on the role of preview narration. In 1985, he played the protagonist in an anime for the first time in "High School! Kimengumi", and on January 9, 2017, he was ranked 20th in the "Voice Actor General Election! 3-Hour SP" broadcasted on TV Asahi, where 200 popular voice actors seriously voted.

On the recording site, he is known for "adding ad-libs", and occasionally the content of the ad-libs is too intense to be broadcasted, resulting in self-restraint orders from the staff. Chiba believes that "If the person doing it is not having fun, even the children watching TV will not have fun," and says, "Actors usually add ad-libs. While doing 'Dokaben', seeking more effective words and natural expressions for situations, I was recognized by the sound director, Shinomi, and recommended for various roles.
