Slaine Troyard

Another protagonist, a boy affiliated with the Martian nation, the Vers Empire. Though originally from Earth, he came to Mars with his father, who was invited there to conduct Aldnoah research. Five years ago, he was saved from a near-fatal condition by Princess Asseylum, and since then, he has felt a deep sense of gratitude toward her and sworn unwavering loyalty.
 

Because of his Earth-born origin, many view him with disdain. Even his master, Count Cruhteo, looks down on him as a “dog,” leaving him in a very constrained position. As he does not hold the rank of a knight, he is not permitted to pilot a Kataphrakt (combat mecha), and instead primarily operates a Sky Carrier (a transport craft for Kataphrakts), delivering knights to the battlefield.
 

Due to the silhouette of his Sky Carrier, Inaho and the others refer to him as “the bat.” The nickname serves as biting irony, reflecting his ambiguous stance—an Earth-born individual siding with Mars, yet unable to fully belong to any faction within it. However, as the story progresses, his status rises, and his circumstances undergo significant change.
