Summary

The founder of Ken Production. A titan who has led the industry for 50 years since the dawn of anime.

During his school days, he enjoyed reading and reading comic books, and at the time, he did not think about becoming an actor. However, he joined the drama club in the high school he attended at night. Relying on a friend, he moved to Tokyo in 1958. Through that friend's introduction, he landed a minor role in the children's drama "Passionate Cactus" and subsequently became the narrator for "Pirate Viking". Initially, while working as a stage actor, he also worked part-time jobs. He was scouted by a director to participate in dubbing, which gradually led to an increase in voice acting work.

His anime debut was in 1963 as One-eyed Jack in "Wolf Boy Ken". From then on, he became a pioneering figure in anime voice acting. In 1984, he established "Ken Production". With the support of his wife, he also began to focus on nurturing the next generation along with managing his own career. His signature roles include Raoh from "Fist of the North Star", Sally's Dad in "Sally the Witch", and Norimaki Senbei in "Dr. Slump".

Characterized by a powerful bass voice and distinctive laughter, as exemplified by Raoh, he often played rugged middle-aged to elderly men, regardless of whether they were good or evil. However, he also occasionally played delicate young men, such as Mazo in "Golden Bat" and the World Martial Arts Tournament Announcer in "Dragon Ball".
