Summary

She debuted as a child actor affiliated with Himawari during her elementary school years, appearing in numerous dramas and movies. In 1977, while in her senior year of high school, she passed the audition for Perrine Monogatari in the World Masterpiece Theater series and made her debut as a voice actor by playing the protagonist, Perrine. From that point on, she began actively pursuing a career as a voice actor. She often portrayed strong-willed female characters, and it is said that she herself was a person of strong character and a deep sense of justice.

From the 1990s onwards, her narration work for variety and news programs increased, and until shortly before her death, she focused mainly on this line of work.
Her notable roles include Bulma in Dragon Ball, Mikami Reiko in Ghost Sweeper Mikami, and Dokin-chan in Anpanman.

[Passing]
On November 16, 2017, at around 7:30 PM, she was found unconscious in the driver's seat of her car, parked with hazard lights on, in a lane of the Inner Circular Route of the Metropolitan Expressway in Chuo Ward, Tokyo. She was wearing a seatbelt and was rushed to a hospital, but her death was later confirmed. The cause of death was believed to be sudden death due to aortic dissection while driving. The pain caused by aortic dissection is known to be "the most intense pain in this world," yet she managed to stay conscious, avoid causing an accident, and safely stop the vehicle, an act that drew praise from many quarters.
