Summary
Originally a fan of science fiction, he was dedicated to science throughout his high school years. However, after watching a political program on television, he aspired to become a government official and enrolled in Chuo University's Faculty of Law, Department of Political Science. During his university years, he struggled with his career path. It was during this period that he watched The Sound of Music and was deeply moved. This inspired him to join a theater company. Later, through a friend's introduction, he applied to Garakuta Kōbō (now Gekidan Sugoroku) and was accepted as part of the fourth generation of trainees.
At the beginning of his time in the theater company, he was mainly involved in on-screen acting rather than voice work. He went through several auditions without knowing what projects he was auditioning for, and eventually, he made his voice acting debut in the anime adaptation of Manga Nihon Keizai Nyūmon, based on the original work by Ishinomori Shōtarō.
He has played a wide variety of roles in numerous anime and game projects, ranging from lead characters to supporting and minor roles. In addition to his voice acting career, he is also active as a stage actor. As a voice actor, he specializes in roles from young adults to middle-aged men, portraying characters such as passionate heroes, cold and ruthless villains, charming young men, and comical figures. However, rather than straightforward heroic characters, he is more known for playing slightly goofy, clumsy, or easygoing characters that have a certain charm and likability.
His notable roles include Namino Norizuke in Sazae-san and Nobi Nobisuke (Nobita's father) in Doraemon.
