Summary
During her teens, she evacuated to Nagano Prefecture with her sisters due to the war. After entering high school, she became familiar with plays through her father's book collection.
She aspired to be a stage artist and joined the Bungakuza Theatre Company's Acting Research Institute as a trainee immediately after graduating from high school. However, after graduating from the institute, she turned to acting and made her debut on the stage in 1950 with "Kitty Typhoon," which sparked her passion for theater. She worked in film and television alongside her stage career, sometimes being called a phenomenal actress due to her presence.
With her unique voice and emotional delivery, she ventured into voice acting in 1969 with the anime "Moomin." In "Moomin Puppet Animation," she distinguished herself by voicing all characters, including Moomin, as well as the narration, single-handedly. Her voice became beloved by children for its elegance and warmth, earning her support from adults as well.
