Summary
A historical figure from Japan, "Momochi Tanba (百地丹波)," serves as the model. In the Sengoku period, he was considered the founder of the Iga school of ninjutsu and is said to have been one of the three great Jonin leaders of the Iga ninja. The other two are "Fujibayashi Nagatomori" and "Hattori Hanzo."
In "TENGAI MAKYŌ II: MANJI MARU," he is portrayed slightly differently as "Momochi Tanba (百々地丹波)" with a slight alteration in the kanji. He appears as the leader of the Iga ninja, just like in historical fact. The characters "Hanabi," "Matsuri," and "Mikoshi," who help Manjimaru and his companions on their journey, are Tanba's grandchildren.
